What is GHK-CU?

GHK is a tripeptide made from glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. GHK-CU describes the copper-complexed form, in which the peptide binds copper. Researchers distinguish the peptide sequence, the metal complex and the formulation when interpreting analytical or biological results.

Why is copper studied?

Copper participates in enzyme systems involved in connective-tissue crosslinking, redox balance and other cellular processes. GHK-CU research examines how the complex may influence extracellular-matrix signalling, repair biology and gene-expression patterns in model systems.

Skin and hair research

Laboratory and cosmetic science literature has examined GHK-CU in relation to collagen, fibroblast activity, wound models and hair-follicle biology. These are research areas, not proof that a research material will produce a particular cosmetic or clinical outcome.

Analytical identity and purity

Copper complexation makes method selection and sample preparation relevant. Review the stated identity, chromatographic result, mass information and any notes on the copper complex. A purity percentage should not be presented as proof of safety or efficacy.

Research supply

Cambridge Health supplies GHK-CU materials for laboratory research. The GHK-CU Journal article provides a longer introduction, while the testing laboratory page explains how to read analytical documentation.

Questions about GHK-CU

What does GHK-CU mean?

GHK is the three-amino-acid peptide sequence; CU refers to the copper complex associated with that peptide.

Does GHK-CU research prove an anti-ageing treatment?

No. Research findings from cell, tissue or other models do not establish a treatment effect or make a research product suitable for personal use.

Why should copper complexation be documented?

The complex is part of the material identity and can affect how a sample is prepared, measured and interpreted.
